Alexandros Aidonis – Fine Art Documentary Wedding Photographer Ioannina, Greece & Europe

Meet the Photographer Behind Stillness. Presence. Truth.

Black and white portrait of Alexandros Aidonis holding a camera by a stream.

I'm Alexandros Aidonis — Leica-trained fine art documentary wedding photographer based in Ioannina, Epirus.
I work with couples throughout Greece-Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, Lefkada, Parga, Zagorochoria-and Europe-Tuscany, Provence, Amalfi Coast, Lake Como-transforming authentic moments into timeless heirloom art.

I'm here to capture your story, not stage it — turning authentic moments into heirloom art that endures.

It all started in the darkroom.

It all started back in 2005 at the Ionian University, during a black-and-white film class. Entering the darkness of the darkroom, I felt the magic: light shaping shadows, patience revealing truth. That spark became my way of seeing: attentive, intuitive, unhurried. From Ionian creative roots to Leica Akademie Athens, I developed a precision that honors the subtle beauty of real life.

From observer to storyteller

I grew up learning the art of anticipation while assisting editorial, fashion, and wedding shoots. In 2015, I shot my first wedding as a lead photographer. Since then, I have documented more than 50 celebrations-from intimate mountain ceremonies in Zagorochoria to luminous island weddings in Santorini, Sifnos, and Paros-and I'm ready to bring that quiet art to your European story.

My Approach: Presence Without Performance

No forced positions. I observe, wait, and frame the truth as it reveals itself. When you come to create portraits with me, my guidance is slight: a glance, a breath-nothing more. You bring yourselves; I bring the craft. The result? Images that feel like poetry-serene, truthful, forever timeless.

The Wedding Photography Experience

Connection first
More than anything else, I want to get to know you. Your story, your vision, your people.

  1. Before the day
We'll discuss your timeline and what's most important to you. I'll give advice when needed, while remaining flexible throughout.

  2. On the wedding day
I work intuitively and respectfully. I don't direct or interrupt. I move in quietly, always watching, so I can photograph what you feel, not just what happens. This is the essence of my fine art documentary wedding photography, unobtrusive, honest, and deeply emotional.

  3. Afterwards
You’ll receive a curated, heartfelt collection that tells your story with honesty and soul. Delivered with care, ready to live forever.

I want you to see yourselves when you look at your photos.

Not something perfect, but something real.

Your day, just as it happened: with spontaneous laughter, quiet breaths before the entrance, and looks that talked without words.

Moments not made for the camera — but meant to be remembered.

Every celebration is unique, whether it's an intimate hometown affair or a multi-day destination wedding. Collections are tailored to your day, your story, and your vision.

I'll walk you through everything from what's included to what's possible. Travel is handled with care and flexibility-especially for destination weddings.

  • My wedding photography starts at €600 for 5 hours of coverage. Every wedding is unique, so I create custom proposals based on your vision, timeline, and location. Let's discuss what’s perfect for your day.

  • My style is quiet, observational, and rooted in documentary storytelling. I notice what matters — fleeting looks, subtle gestures, and the language of love written in light and stillness. My goal is to capture moments as they unfold, not stage them.

  • Most of the time, I work solo. This helps me move freely and remain discreet throughout the day. For larger weddings or when additional coverage is needed, I collaborate with a trusted second photographer I’ve trained and worked with extensively.

  • I focus exclusively on photography, so I can fully immerse myself in your story.
However, I’m happy to recommend videographers whose aesthetic and approach align with mine.

  • For a full-day wedding, you’ll receive around 600–900 carefully edited images, all in high resolution.
You’ll get a preview gallery within 7 days, and the full gallery is delivered in 4–6 weeks.

  • I edit each image for tone, color, and consistency. I remove temporary blemishes (like pimples or scratches) while keeping natural skin texture intact. My philosophy is simple: you should look like yourself — on your best day.

  • Absolutely. I’m based in Ioannina, Greece, but I photograph weddings and elopements across the country and Europe. Whether it’s an island, a mountain village, or a destination abroad, I find inspiration in every place.

    • For cancellations more than 30 days before the event, 50% of the deposit is refunded.

    • Cancellations within 30 days are non-refundable.

    • If you need to reschedule, I’m happy to accommodate a new available date with at least 30 days’ notice.

  • For outdoor weddings or sessions, I’m flexible with timing and always come prepared with alternatives.
Some of the most meaningful images come from unexpected conditions — I embrace them.

  • Fill out the contact form or send me an email.
Your date is officially booked once we’ve signed an agreement and the deposit is received.
